Parasound HALO audio components
The HALO product line was created for our customer, Parasound Products as a means to elevate the embodiment of the customer’s unique and highly refined gear to match the sound quality for which Parasound is renowned. Previously, Parasound’s products, and indeed the entire industry, was sheathed in black. Black was the (then) conventional wisdom for audiophile and home theater componentry. It was a hair shirt for our customer, whose great quality equipment looked like everybody else’s.
HALO was therefore a response to the funerary wisdom of the industry: why not play with light and play with the device’s control forms the way great audio gear plays with music? The result is now embodied in over a dozen different award-winning products from Parasound. That result, aside from stopping trade show attendees in their tracks has animated Parasound’s bottom line as well. As to form following function–since its introduction, HALO has won over the world trade press, won both CES Innovations honors and the coveted Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design for excellence in International Industrial Design. The HALO line continues to set sales records for our customer.
As one example, the HALO C1 surround sound controller has received over 25 rave reviews in the audiophile and home theater press since its introduction. It not only redefined performance for this category but also revolutionized the esthetics and how we interact with such devices. Here are but a few reviews:
Audio & Video Lifestyle (Australia), August 2004
“This combo (C 2 and A 52) has to be the outright best looking gear I have had in my home theatre system…”
Audioholics, October 2004
“The A 21 and A 51 amplifiers are both loaded with usable features above and beyond most other amplifiers in today’s market. …Parasound seems to have attended to every aspect of their design including the excellent build quality internally and externally matched with great looks.”
Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars – Ken Stein and Steve Dellasala

“For the price, you would be hard-pressed to find a system with better build quality and aesthetics. This system is major league, at a minor league price.” – Brian Kahn
Hi-Fi Choice (UK), November 2002
“…the Halo kit (P 3/A 23) stands out like a Ferrari amid a car park full of Vauxhalls. It’s sleek, solid and stylish…” “Beautifully built with even-handed, natural sound. Deep sound stage and bolted-down stereo image.” “Looks like high-end electronics, sounds like high-end electronics, priced like mid-fi.” – Alan Sircom
Home Entertainment and Design, May 2004
Featured component in Surround Sound on Steroids article. “With its automatic setup capability, its professional-style BNC video connections and XLR audio connections, and its front LCD screen, Parasound’s Halo C 1 must be considered a state-of-the-art surround-sound processor. The vessel that takes me where few home theater fans have gone before is Parasound Products’ Halo C 1 surround-sound preamp/processor.” “The music fills my room like never before. It’s enveloping, addictive…Parasound’s C 1 surround-sound processor can give you a taste of what lies beyond 7.1.” – Brent Butterworth
Sound & Vision, November 2004
“The Halo C 1 displays an extraordinary attention to detail…if you want to roll your own high-end home theater system without outside assistance, the C 1 might be your best bet. It deserves consideration for a large home theater by virtue of those programmable outputs, which have the potential to produce a sonic experience unmatchable…by most other equipment of any kind. These programmable auxiliary outputs might be just the thing for a really big listening room with more than just six satellites and one subwoofer available.” – David Ranada
Home Theater, May 2003
“If you’re in the pre/pro market in the mid to upper price range, there’s no question that the C 1 belongs on your absolutely shortest list. It would be a serious understatement to call this unit fully featured. It’s loaded with conventional features and offers plenty of rare and unique tricks…music and movie performance are superb, it has just about every feature and function you can imagine, and yet it retains a clear sense of user friendliness.” – Chris Lewis
